Bulova Unveils Accutron Astronaut 2024: Modern GMT Watches in Four Variants
Bulova, the renowned watchmaker, is set to release the Accutron Astronaut 2024, a modern take on the iconic '60s-era model. The new news watches, featuring a custom Miyota 9058 automatic GMT movement, are priced at $2,200 and $3,000 respectively and will not be limited in edition size.
Last year, Bulova revived the Accutron Astronaut, recreating the 'T' variant from 1968. The new 2024 models boast a larger case size of 41mm, compared to the original 38mm. The Astronaut was a favorite of the CIA and NASA due to its accuracy and resilience in extreme conditions. It was eventually replaced by quartz watches in the 1970s.
The new collection includes four variants: three with stainless steel cases and one with grade 5 titanium. The LTi edition in grade 5 titanium stands out with a 24-hour bezel display and an eggshell-colored dial.
The Accutron Astronaut 2024, manufactured by Bulova, pays homage to the original while incorporating modern features. With a custom GMT movement and increased case size, these news are set to appeal to both vintage enthusiasts and contemporary collectors. The pricing and edition size make them accessible to a wider audience.
