Boris FX, a leading developer of visual effects, has announced the release of Continuum 2025, a plugin collection designed to streamline workflows and save artists time. This latest version of Continuum boasts six new, internally developed ML-driven effects, including Motion Blur ML and License Plate ML.

Motion Blur ML offers a machine-learning optical flow to blur moving sections of a shot, ensuring smooth and realistic transitions. On the other hand, License Plate ML automatically scans a scene for vehicles and obscures alphanumeric identifiers, providing a useful tool for maintaining privacy in footage.

The Transitions category in Continuum 2025 adds four new drag-and-drop transitions, while the BCC+Smoke & Fog and BCC+Atmospheric Glow effects now feature 20+ new sprite/texture options. The Key & Blend category includes updated GPU-accelerated effects for green screen footage keying and garbage masking.

A new image caching system in the custom FX Editor delivers faster playback of filtered results, improving the overall user experience. Particle Illusion in Continuum 2025 offers the ability to copy and paste color gradients, alpha gradients, and particle images, making it easier for artists to create and customise particle effects.

Continuum 2025 also includes BCC+UpRes ML and BCC+DeNoise ML plug-ins, which use machine learning to upscale images and remove noise from videos, respectively. These tools are part of a broader suite of visual effects, transitions, particles, titles, and more, available in various video editing software.

In addition to these updates, Boris FX has made significant strides in AI technology with SynthEyes 2025.5 and CrumplePop 2025.5. SynthEyes 2025.5 includes AI-driven ML Motion Estimation tracking for complex shots, flexible new Lens Workflow exports, and additional automated workflows, aimed at streamlining core tasks for matchmove artists. Meanwhile, CrumplePop 2025.5 features an updated AI-powered SoundApp, new tuned models, and a streamlined workflow for enhancing recordings.

Continuum 2025 is available with monthly/annual subscriptions, upgrade & support plans, and permanent licenses. It supports a wide range of host applications, including Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Foundry Nuke, Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve and Fusion, and VEGAS Pro. Furthermore, Continuum 2025 now fully supports the Fusion page in DaVinci Resolve.
