BMW has unveiled the 2026 X1, praised for its engaging driving dynamics and competitive pricing. The compact luxury SUV receives updates and new features, while the X1 nameplate makes way for the electric news BMW iX1 NB5 in the future.
The 2026 BMW X1 offers a suite of standard features, including a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless phone charging and auto-dimming mirrors are now standard. Fuel economy remains impressive, with the xDrive28i rated at 24/33/28 mpg and the M35i at 24/32/27 mpg.
The X1 delivers power through a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. The base xDrive28i produces 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, accelerating from 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds. The M35i ups the ante with 312 horsepower, a 5.0-second 0-60 mph time, and an adaptive M suspension. New paint options include Night Dusk Blue and Dune Grey.
Priced at $42,800, the 2026 BMW X1 competes with the Mercedes-Benz GLB and Audi Q3. It offers up to 57.2 cubic feet of cargo space, outclassing the Audi Q3 (52.5 cubic feet) and Volvo XC40 (57.0 cubic feet).
The 2026 BMW X1, with its engaging dynamics, competitive pricing, and generous features, solidifies its position in the luxury compact SUV segment. As BMW transitions to electric news vehicles, the X1 nameplate will be succeeded by the iX1 NB5, offering the new Neue Klasse technology in the same price class.
