Avid Unveils Stream IO Enhancements for Seamless IP-Based Production
Avid has revealed upcoming enhancements to its Avid | Stream IO software, designed to boost efficiency and enable customers to produce high-quality news, sports, and live entertainment content more seamlessly. The software supports both SDI and IP-based formats, allowing teams to transition from legacy workflows to IP at their own pace.
The new release builds on recent performance improvements, doubling the channel count support to up to eight channels in a single system. Avid will showcase an upcoming version at IBC 2024, featuring uncompressed IP ingest and playout via SMPTE 2110, as well as compressed IP-based ingest and playout with support for SRT and RTMP protocols.
Avid | Stream IO supports high precision imagery including 1080P, UHD, and HDR at a lower cost per channel than traditional hardware-based systems. The software runs on common off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and is available through a subscription-based licensing model. Erik Weaver, Chief Product Officer of Avid, reported on the enhanced features planned for 2024.
Avid's improvements to Avid | Stream IO aim to streamline broadcast production ingest and playout, supporting IP-based workflows and high precision imagery. The upcoming version, to be demonstrated at IBC 2024, further enhances the software's capabilities, offering customers a more efficient and cost-effective solution.
