Armenian Government endorses extended collaboration with international accelerator Plug and Play for long term.

In a significant move to bolster Armenia's startup scene, Plug and Play, a renowned international accelerator, has established a local branch in Yerevan. This partnership, approved by the Government of Armenia on July 3, 2025, marks a significant presence of Plug and Play in the country.

The long-term cooperation agreement involves the implementation of various programs, including incubation, pre-acceleration, and acceleration, aimed at nurturing and growing local startups. The partnership is part of a broader initiative by the Armenian Government to attract top international accelerators, with Plug & Play Germany GmbH chosen after winning a grant competition in 2024.

Plug and Play's arrival in Armenia is expected to enhance the country's startup ecosystem significantly. The partnership is set to boost its competitiveness by providing access to global networks and resources. Already, participating startups have seen success and attracted investments during the pilot phase, thanks to Plug and Play's extensive global partner network.

The establishment of Plug and Play's local branch will help address existing challenges and gaps in the local ecosystem. It will establish relationships with local companies, venture funds, angel investors, associations, and universities, fostering a more robust and interconnected ecosystem.

The agreement includes a $4 million investment for the Plug and Play Tech Center partnership, supporting the development of Armenia's startup environment. Plug and Play conducted an in-depth analysis of the local startup ecosystem in Armenia and identified areas requiring improvement.

Sessions were held for public sector employees, university students, and representatives of local venture funds, business associations, and universities to discuss potential solutions and strategies for growth. The program provided mentoring, innovation support, business development services, and helped startups build international business connections.

Armenia's technological reputation has improved as a result of this partnership, as evidenced by its upward movement in global startup ecosystem rankings. The country advanced three spots to rank 54th globally, according to the StartupBlink report.

Plug and Play's activity in Armenia has been recognised as a major achievement in the StartupBlink Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2025. The accelerator, which was the leading U.S.-backed investor in Europe in 2024, surpassing other major accelerators like Y Combinator and Techstars, has played a crucial role in Armenia's startup growth.

The Ministry of High-Tech Industry in Armenia proposed this agreement to expand the results achieved over the past few years. They believe that Plug and Play's presence and long-term activity in Armenia will significantly strengthen the country's startup ecosystem, fostering innovation and growth.

Overall, this partnership is designed to strengthen Armenia's position in the global startup landscape and provide local startups with the resources and support they need to compete on a global scale. With Plug and Play's expertise and network, Armenia's startup ecosystem is poised for continued growth and success.
