Wanna take a swing at this sought-after award? Submit your mind-blowing projects to the Opus expert jury for a chance to make your mark in the world of stage production and event technology. Plus, if your project gets the thumbs-up, Messe Frankfurt will pick up the tab for the grand award gala on 10 April 2025 in Frankfurt, complete with a free overnight stay! The deadline to apply is 15 November 2024.
The Opus - International Stage Award
This bad boy is a major honor in the world of stage production and tech. It's usually presented at Prolight + Sound, an international trade fair for event and communication technology. The jury is made up of industry experts who assess projects based on their technical realization, artistic quality, and use of cutting-edge technology. The Opus is internationally recognized and draws entries from all over the globe, celebrating the pioneers of modern stage technology. Previous winners have impressed with their work in theater and stage productions, concerts and tours, conferences, corporate events, city festivals, and open-air events.
Winners of the Opus Award 2024
Congrats to the technical team from Friedrichstadt-Palast for scoring the Opus - German Stage Award in 2024! Their jaw-dropping "FALLING | IN LOVE" Grand Show at Berlin's Friedrichs-Palast blew the minds of over 100 artists from 28 countries, impressing with visual fireworks, technical innovations, and a collaboration with Swarovski. Deaf dancers were even brought onstage, thanks to a vibration plate that let them feel the music!
Last year, the Staatstheater Kassel's Pandaemonium took home the top prize for its innovative spatial concept that brought the audience into the action. The team, led by Florian Lutz, broke new ground by exploring new forms of use and play in the theater — a forward-thinking move that symbolizes the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis.
Winner of the Opus Award 2023
In 2023, the Pandaemonium at the Staatstheater Kassel scooped up the coveted award for its innovative spatial concept that integrated the audience into the action. The team, led by Florian Lutz, also explored new forms of use and play in the theater, making the Pandaemonium a beacon of hope during the COVID-19 crisis.
Winner of the Opus Award 2022
The Dionysos Stadt Open Air took home the first Opus award in 2022. It bravely made art and cultural experiences possible for a larger audience during the summer of 2021 while complying with all COVID-19 restrictions. The creators of the "Woodkid @ ZDF Magazin Royal" project also made history by breaking new ground in augmented reality, creating a completely new experience that was recognized by the jury with the newly created "Opus AVantgarde."
