Apple Warns of Spyware Attacks Targeting iCloud Devices
Apple has issued fresh warnings about spyware attacks targeting iCloud-linked devices. The tech giant has sent alerts to users since early 2025, with the latest notification on September 3. The victims include journalists, human rights activists, and government officials, highlighting the seriousness of the issue.
Apple advises users to reduce risks by updating devices, enabling automatic updates, separating personal and work use, using Isolation Mode, and restarting daily. It also recommends practicing good IT hygiene: avoid suspicious links, use strong passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and steer clear of untrusted apps.
Notifications are sent via iMessage, email, and appear on the iCloud login page. If you receive an alert, Apple urges you to contact France's cyber agency (CERT-FR), keep the email, and preserve device evidence. The alerts often come months after the initial compromise attempt.
Since 2021, Apple has notified users targeted by spyware such as Pegasus, Predator, Graphite, or Triangulation. The company has sent at least four alerts since early 2025, with the most recent on September 3. Users are advised to stay vigilant and follow Apple's security guidelines to protect their devices.
