Android Update QPR1 Beta 3 introduces Google's latest batch of bug solutions
Android users, particularly those on the QPR Beta track, will be excited to hear about the latest update - Android 16 QPR1 Beta 3. This update, announced by Google on Reddit, is now live with build number BP31.250610.004, and it comes with the July 2025 security patch.
The update is primarily focused on fixing major bugs, but it also introduces a few noteworthy new features. One such feature is the keyboard magnifier, which can be found under Settings > Accessibility > Magnification. This tool provides a full-screen zoom on the keyboard, enhancing visibility for letters, emojis, and numbers, especially beneficial for users with low vision.
Another addition is the introduction of taskbar shortcuts in Desktop Mode. Now, users can pin and unpin apps from the taskbar by long-pressing an app in the app drawer or on the taskbar itself. This makes managing apps in Desktop Mode much easier.
Several important bug fixes have also been addressed in this update. Issues such as RTOS task list corruption, launcher display issues, notification and media player display problems, kernel restart issues, camera startup black screens, and notification shade message folding breaks have been addressed.
In addition to Beta 3, Android 16 QPR1 (overall, including Beta phases) introduces Material 3 Expressive (M3E) UI styling, giving the Android interface a more vibrant and usable look. Quick Settings also gains resizable tiles, enhancing usability by showing more controls at once.
In summary, Beta 3 is a refinement build with essential fixes, the keyboard magnifier enhancement, and taskbar shortcut improvements ahead of the stable QPR1 release. The update is compatible with the Pixel 6 series, including the new Pixel 9, Pixel Fold, and Tablet. Users can download the update through Settings > System > Software updates > System update. Developers can also access the update on the Android Emulator.
