AJA Video Systems Unveils Virtual KONA at IBC 2024 for Seamless Cloud Video Processing
AJA Video Systems is showcasing its latest innovation at IBC 2024 in Amsterdam. The company is previewing its Virtual KONA software-defined virtualized video capture/playout solution, developed in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The solution, presented at Stand 7.B19, enables third-party applications to input and output uncompressed, high-resolution, high dynamic range (HDR) video between the cloud and local workstations. This is achieved through the integration of the AJA NTV2 Software Development Kit (SDK) and AWS Cloud Digital Interface (CDI). AWS CDI, part of the solution, ensures high-quality, uncompressed video transport in the cloud with low latency, as low as 8 milliseconds. Virtual KONA and the AJA SDK provide a direct plugin to AWS CDI, allowing any software application supporting KONA to connect to the cloud for I/O. AJA Video Systems president Nick Rashby highlighted the company's collaboration with AWS, aiming to support hybrid cloud and on-premises workflows for remote teams. The preview of the Virtual KONA solution at IBC 2024 marks a significant step towards seamless video processing between local and cloud environments.
