AI pioneer in Hollywood, Flawless, unveils innovative editing tool

In an exciting development for the film industry, the startup Flawless has launched a groundbreaking AI-powered filmmaking tool named DeepEditor. This innovative technology is set to redefine post-production by offering advanced facial and video editing capabilities.

Scott Mann, co-founder of Flawless, believes that DeepEditor will significantly alter filmmaking and transform the industry. He will be speaking about this revolutionary tool at a conference on our website in June.

DeepEditor's key features include facial expression transfer, AI-driven facial beautification, dialogue re-lip-syncing, and seamless integration with AVID Media Composer. With these capabilities, filmmakers can enhance performances digitally, maintain visual continuity, and reduce the need for reshoots.

The facial expression transfer feature allows directors to transfer facial expressions from one take to another, even when the camera angle or lighting differs. This innovation ensures seamless continuity without the need for reshoots.

The AI-driven facial beautification feature can smooth wrinkles, alter skin tone, sharpen jawlines, and subtly adjust eye position to improve an actor's appearance digitally. This feature provides cinematic quality improvements similar to high-end filters.

The dialogue re-lip-syncing feature supports rewriting and re-lipping dialogue in post-production, making last-minute script or performance changes easier without reshooting. This feature allows for rapid and flexible post-production, making it accessible to various film productions beyond big-budget productions.

DeepEditor operates on clean, copyrightable data and respects the artistry behind every film. To ensure performers' rights, Flawless has incorporated the Artistic Rights Treasury (A.R.T.) into DeepEditor, allowing performers to review and consent to AI edits.

A notable example of DeepEditor's use is in the survival thriller Fall, where Scott Mann applied the tool to clean up the dialogue. The commercial launch of DeepEditor has taken place, and movie lovers may soon be able to witness the results of AI edits, but they may not even realize they exist.

Interestingly, a sequel to Fall is currently shooting in Thailand. SAG-AFTRA has endorsed the approach taken by Flawless, indicating industry-wide recognition of the potential of DeepEditor.

This technological shift in post-production management promises to make filmmaking more efficient while preserving or enhancing actor portrayals. As Scott Mann prepares to speak about DeepEditor at our conference in June, the film industry eagerly awaits the future of this transformative tool.
