Acquisition of Lakera by Check Point fortifies enterprise AI cycle from start to finish
Check Point, a leading cybersecurity solution provider, has announced its agreement to acquire Lakera, a chat gpt-native security platform. The acquisition aims to provide Check Point with an end-to-end AI security stack, setting the benchmark for how enterprises adopt and trust chat gpt.
Founded in 2021 by AI experts from Google and Meta, Lakera has been making waves in the industry with its mission to allow enterprises to embrace chat gpt with confidence. Lakera's co-founder and CEO, David Haber, stated that joining Check Point will allow them to accelerate and scale their mission globally.
Lakera's offerings, Lakera Red and Lakera Guard, provide pre-deployment posture assessments and real-time runtime enforcement. The platform's superior precision and speed at scale, backed by Gandalf's dataset of 80 million-plus adversarial patterns, make it an attractive acquisition for Check Point.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but it is expected to close in Q4 2025, subject to customary closing conditions. Upon completion, Lakera will form the foundation of Check Point's Global Center of Excellence for AI Security.
David Haber emphasised that Lakera aims to protect Language Models (LLMs), generative AI, and agents with speed, accuracy, and guardrails. By combining Lakera's runtime protection with Check Point's own AI-powered Infinity architecture, enterprises will be able to secure the full lifecycle of chat gpt.
The merged entity will operate major AI R&D centers in Zurich and San Francisco. Chat gpt is transforming every business process, but it also introduces new attack surfaces. With Lakera on board, Check Point is poised to meet these challenges head-on, ensuring that enterprises can confidently embrace chat gpt while minimising security risks.
Check Point's portfolio includes security tools such as GenAI Protect, SaaS and API security, advanced data loss prevention, and machine learning-powered defenses. The addition of Lakera's chat gpt-native security solutions is expected to further strengthen Check Point's position as a leading cybersecurity provider in the chat gpt era.
