2025 Marks 55th of Datsun Z, 35th of Honda NSX: Classic Japfest at Goodwood Celebrates

2025 marks a significant year for Japanese automotive history. The Datsun and Nissan Z-car turns 55, the Honda NSX celebrates its 35th anniversary, and the Classic Japfest at Goodwood plans to honour these legends with a special anniversary paddock.

The story of the Z-car began in 1970 with the Datsun 240Z, which challenged perceptions of Japanese cars. Its success in motorsport, including the SCCA Championship and the East African Safari Rally, cemented its legacy. The lineage evolved through models like the 260Z, 280ZX, and 300ZX, and was reborn as the 350Z in 2002. Today, the latest Nissan Z continues this story.

The Honda NSX, launched in 1990, was Japan's response to European supercar makers. It marked a significant milestone in Japanese automotive engineering. Meanwhile, the Nissan R33 GT-R, introduced in 1995, was the third chapter in the modern Skyline GT-R story. It set a remarkable feat by lapping the Nürburgring in under eight minutes.

In 2025, the Classic Japfest at Goodwood will celebrate these three Japanese legends - the Datsun and Nissan Z-car, the Honda NSX, and the Nissan R33 GT-R. The event will showcase these iconic cars in a dedicated anniversary paddock, offering enthusiasts a unique opportunity to appreciate these automotive milestones.
